Everyone 50+ is welcome at the Montpelier Senior Activity Center (MSAC), a place where vibrant, diverse programming promotes lifelong learning, healthy aging, socialization, enhanced nutrition and access to aging resources.
The mission of the Montpelier Senior Activity Center is to enhance the quality of life for the older adults in the Montpelier area through opportunities that develop physical, mental, cultural, social, and economic well-being at a welcoming, flexible environment. MSAC has served central Vermont seniors for 48 years. Records from 1976 show hundreds of seniors participating in activities ranging from craft classes to book review groups and tax assistance.
A renovation project in 2012 after a devastating fire created a room dedicated to resources and senior wellness clinics, a community room for meals, public gatherings, and special events and lectures, and two classrooms, including our movement studio.
In July 2013, after identifying a service gap in central Vermont, MSAC formed an innovative three-way partnership with non-profit partner Just Basics, Inc. and for-profit partner Good Taste Catering to jointly launch the FEAST senior nutrition program. This program provides congregate and home-delivered meals, meeting federal nutrition guidelines and utilizing fresh local produce whenever possible. Over 17,000 meals were served in 2015.
MSAC offers a wide range of health, education, recreation, volunteer, and socialization opportunities that enhance dignity, support independence, and encourage community involvement. MSAC is a resource for the entire community, providing services and information on aging.
