Administration & Application Timeline

Ultimate responsibility for the disposition of monies from the Fund rests with the Montpelier City Council. The Montpelier Conservation Commission will use its Conservation Fund Advisory Board  to evaluate requests and make written recommendations to the City Council.

Proposals for use of the Fund shall be submitted on the application form found at [link to application Word document attached to email] to the Conservation Fund Advisory Board  (address below).  It is advisable to contact the Advisory Board before submitting your proposal, to discuss the eligibility of your request.  See below for contact information.  You may be asked to host a site visit to the property.

Applications shall be submitted electronically to ConservationFund@montpelier-vt.org.

Email questions to ConservationFund@montpelier-vt.org, including your phone number, and a member of the Conservation Fund Advisory Board will call you back.

 Timeline:

  1. Proposals may be submitted at any time, and will be reviewed within a month by the Conservation Fund Advisory Board. Urgent proposals may be reviewed ASAP.
  2. The Conservation Fund Advisory Board will subsequently bring recommendations to the Montpelier Conservation Commission at the following meeting. The Montpelier Conservation Commission meets on the third Wednesday of each month.
  3. Every effort will be made to have final funding recommendations reviewed by the Montpelier City Council at the earliest City Council meeting after the Conservation Commission meeting. The Montpelier City Council meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month.
  4. Applicants will be notified of the status of their proposal by the Conservation Fund Advisory Board as soon as possible following a final decision.
