Higher Education Opportunities

Opportunities exist for adults and people of all ages to further their education in a particular field, learn specific skills, attend independent courses, or pursue general studies. Despite its small size, Montpelier boasts of having the following 5 institutions of higher learning:

Community College of Vermont
Located on the Vermont College campus, the Community College of Vermont's Montpelier campus enrolls approximately 900 students annually. This institution largely serves non-traditional students and is part of a statewide system. Administrative and other services are housed at 89 Main Street, City Center.

New England Culinary Institute
As the name suggests, the New England Culinary Institute specializes in education of the culinary arts. NECI enrolls approximately 400 students annually. In addition to the main campus, the school owns and operates the Chef's Table and the Main Street Bar & Grill restaurants and the La Brioche Bakery and Cafe in the downtown.

Vermont College of Fine Art

Offering MFAs in writing, writing for children and young adults, and visual art. At the Vermont College of Fine Arts, art is all we do. The programs at VCFA are as creative as the art we teach. Here we encourage experimentation and individuality of expression with one-on-one mentoring and low student-to-faculty ratios, and we offer a curriculum that’s always evolving, as well as shaping the future of art.
