Everyone 50+ is welcome at the Montpelier Senior Activity Center (MSAC), a place where vibrant, diverse programming promotes lifelong learning, healthy aging, socialization, enhanced nutrition and access to resources on aging.
The mission of the Montpelier Senior Activity Center is to enhance the quality of life for older adults in the Montpelier area through opportunities that develop physical, mental, cultural, social, and economic well-being at a welcoming, flexible environment. MSAC has served central Vermont for 54 years! Records from 1976 show hundreds of older adults participating in activities ranging from craft classes to book review groups and tax assistance.
A renovation project in 2012 after a devastating 2009 fire created space for resources and wellness clinics, a community room for meals, public gatherings, and special events and lectures, and two classrooms, including our movement studio.
In July 2013, after identifying a service gap in central Vermont, MSAC launched the FEAST Senior Meals program for older adults. This program provides congregate and home-delivered meals, meeting federal nutrition guidelines and utilizing fresh local produce whenever possible. Over 16,000 meals are served each year, with about 2/3 as Meals on Wheels.
MSAC offers a wide range of health, education, recreation, volunteers, and socialization opportunities that enhance dignity, support independence and encourage community involvement. MSAC is a resource for the entire community, providing services and information on aging. MSAC is a senior center without walls, and staff are committed to expanding intergenerational opportunities.
