Monday Protests in Montpelier over North Dakota Pipeline:
Police Expect Potential Traffic Delays Downtown
Montpelier Police expect some protest activity in the capital city on Monday, December 5, 2016. According to several social media sources, protestors are planning on civil disobedient activity in Montpelier that may go beyond lawful free speech and assembly--with the intent of carrying out criminal behavior that could require multiple arrests. Based on preliminary information, this protest is intended to be non-violent.
While MPD does not have specifics regarding the timing of protest activity, police anticipate any traffic delays to occur sometime from mid-morning, through the afternoon hours. It is advised that motorists have alternate routes planned in order to avoid any protest related traffic congestion.
