Motor Vehicle Crash
On Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at approximately 9:46 AM the Montpelier Police Department received a report of a two vehicle crash on Berlin Street in the area of number 155 in the City of Montpelier, Vermont. The crash reportedly involved a motor vehicle and a school bus.
Upon arrival, officers located the two vehicles involved near the intersection of Berlin Street and River Street. A lone male operator, driving a Toyota Tundra truck struck the rear of a school bus. The Tundra was found to have very heavy front end damage and had its airbags deployed. The male operator was treated on scene and transported to the Central Vermont Medical Center by members of Montpelier Ambulance Service for further evaluation. ·
The First Student school bus was found to be transporting 47 students and 5 adults from Berlin Elementary School in Berlin, Vermont. Several students reported minor injuries due to the impact of the crash and were evaluated on scene and transported to the Central Vermont Medical Center by Barre Town Ambulance Service and Barre City Ambulance Service. The rest of the students and adults had a second bus arrive and take them to the Central Vermont Medical Center to be evaluated as a precaution.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Montpelier Police ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call 802-223-3445 with their information.
