Traffic Alert: Northfield Street Water Work near Colonial Drive (10/19)
Project Location: State Street, Main Street, and VT 12 – Elm Street - Work to include milling, paving, manhole and drainage structure adjustments and extensive sidewalk improvements. VT 12-Northfield Street - new water, sewer, storm water improvements, sidewalks and a stabilized road base.
Effective Thursday, October 19th, 2017
Water Valve Installation: Thursday (10/19), crews will be installing the last water valve this year on Northfield Street near the north entrance of Colonial Drive. Alternating one-way traffic will be maintained during this work.
Pedestrian Detour:
Pedestrians approaching the excavation operations will be directed as follows:
• Northbound pedestrians (from Colonial Drive towards Memorial Drive) will be directed to cross Northfield Street to Shepherd of the Hill Church, proceed along the lawn side of the shoulder to Derby Drive and cross back over to Northfield Street.
• Southbound pedestrians (from Memorial Drive to Colonial Drive) will be directed to cross Northfield Street at Derby Drive, progress along the lawn side of the shoulder to Shepherd of the Hill Church and cross Northfield Street to the sidewalk near Colonial Drive.
• Cyclists will travel with vehicle traffic.
Orange construction cones will mark the pedestrian detour route and flaggers will be present to assist pedestrians.
There are no planned water service interruptions with this work.
