Notice of Public Hearing

The City of Montpelier City Council hereby provides notice of a public hearings being held pursuant to 24 VSA §4442 (Adoption of Bylaws) and §4444 (Public Hearing Notice) for the purpose of hearing public comments on the proposed complete revision to the Montpelier Unified Development Regulations and for the proposed adoption of City of Montpelier River Hazard Area Regulations.

The public hearing has been scheduled for:

PLACE: Council Chambers, City Hall, Montpelier, Vt.

Statement of Purpose: The Unified Development Regulations have been developed to implement the policies of the Montpelier Master Plan and the Vermont Planning and Development Act. (See Section 1002 for full purpose statement)

The River Hazard Area Regulations have been developed to detail the simplest possible procedures that will allow the city to develop in a manner that is consistent with the general policies outlined in the Montpelier Master Plan; and to minimize and prevent the loss of life and property, the disruption of commerce, the impairment of tax base, and the extraordinary public expenditure and demands on public service that result from flooding and erosion hazards. (See Section 102 for full purpose statement)

Geographic Area Affected: All development within the City of Montpelier will be subject to regulation under the Unified Development Regulations. Only development within areas identified as river hazard areas are regulated under the river hazard area regulations.
