Montpelier Police Investigate Vandalism in Area of Vermont Statehouse and “Black Lives Matter” Mural

In the early morning hours of Sunday, June 14, 2020, the Montpelier Police Department located spray painted graffiti applied to the city sidewalk and Vermont Statehouse walkway across from the Vermont DMV building located at 120 State Street. The messages referenced government spending and did not appear to reference the “Black Lives Matter” community mural project nearby. Concrete mix, water, and oil was placed on the roadway surface where one of the letters of the project was applied.

This matter is under investigation by the Montpelier Police Department with the assistance of the Vermont Capitol Police, Vermont State Security, and the Vermont State Police. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Montpelier Police Department at (802) 223-3445.
