The Montpelier Police Department is investigating an attempted armed robbery which occurred at Simon’s Store and Deli located at 377 River St at approximately 8:07pm on Friday, December 31, 2015. The lone suspect was in possession of a knife during the incident and tried unsuccessfully to gain entry into the cash register. The suspect fled the store when another customer arrived and was seen headed east. The suspect was described as a white male, who was approximately six feet tall and approximately 190 lbs. The suspect was wearing light blue jeans and camouflage jacket, the hood of which covered their face.
