Committee Vacancies

The Following Committees Have Vacancies and are Looking for Additional Members!
- Historic Preservation Commission
- The Montpelier Historic Preservation Commission's (HPC) main role is planning and advocacy for the protection and appreciation of Montpelier's historic and architecturally significant resources. How this is to be accomplished is a broad charge. The creation of the MHPC and commitment to the preservation of historic resources enabled the City of Montpelier to become a Certified Local Government (CLG) in 2004. They are looking for new members to continue 2022 work like creating illustrated Design Review Guidelines. You can fill out an application at: https://www.montpelier-vt.org/CommitteeApplication
- Montpelier Historic Preservation Commission meets on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM in the City Manager's Conference Room at City Hall.
- Homelessness Task Force
- The Montpelier City Council created a Homelessness Task Force (HTF) in August of 2019 as a response to growing concern for our neighbors experiencing homelessness. The Task Force is looking for new members to help move forward initiatives addressing homelessness in our community and beyond. - The HTF meets every-other Wednesday at 11:30am-1:00pm in City Hall or Via Zoom
- Social & Economic Justice Advisory Committee
- The City Council has established the Montpelier Social & Economic Justice Advisory Committee (SEJAC) to assist the City in addressing and reshaping the systems, policies and practices that perpetuate these barriers to social and economic justice in our community.
- SEJAC has done a lot of work moving the City through its Equity Action Plan and has spearheaded implementing the City's Committee Stipend pilot Project. (More info at the following link: https://www.montpelier-vt.org/1298/City-Committee-Stipend-Project). SEJAC needs additional members to help continue its good work!

- SEJAC meets every-other Wednesday at 8:00am-9:00am via Zoom
- Transportation Infrastructure Committee (MTIC)
- The Montpelier Transportation Infrastructure Committee (MTIC) is tasked with advising City Council on policy and infrastructure improvements related to transportation, as per City Council's direction. Transportation is an interdisciplinary field and thus members include representatives from pedestrian, vehicle, bike, conservation and energy backgrounds. MTIC also acts as a steering committee for the Complete Streets scoping study information.

- The Montpelier Transportation Infrastructure Committee meets on the first Tuesday of every month from 6:00 - 7:30 PM in Memorial Room, City Hall, unless otherwise specified.
- ADA Committee
- The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Committee duties are to address access issues and monitor ADA compliance in the City. The committee is currently working on assessing municipal buildings for ADA compliance to create an inventory of access improvements to be made, and advise the City Council on issues related to accessibility and disability as they arise.

- The ADA Advisory Committee meets quarterly, on the first Tuesday of March, June, September and December at 10:00 AM in the City Manager's Conference Room in City Hall.
- The Planning Commission
- The Planning Commission's role is to help the City work through its re-write of the City Plan, reviewing design review regulations, and working through the strategic planning for the Downtown Master Plan

- The Planning Commission’s regular meetings are on the second and fourth Monday of each month—excepting Holidays when it shifts to the immediately following Tuesday. The meetings begin at 5:30 pm and are held in the City Council Chambers.
- Montpelier Energy Advisory Committee (MEAC)
- MEAC was founded in 2010 to act in an advisory capacity to the Montpelier City Council on energy issues. They are working hard on the City's NetZero plan and goals!
