[ARCHIVED] Downtown Water Main Update - Alley Closure on Thursday (17th)

This week new gate valves are being installed on the 100 year old water mains along Main Street between Barre and School Street. They are being installed under system pressure so that no water shutdown will be necessary. These valves are important to allow for future maintenance and system shutdowns in the event of a water main break and to replace valves that no longer function properly.

On Thursday, work will continue at the intersection of Main and Barre Streets. Additionally, the driveway adjacent to the Pocket Park (next to Splash and Charlie O's) will be closed from noon to approximately 5:00 pm to allow for excavation along Main Street. Residents and visitors will be able to access that parking lot via the alley next to the Drawing Board or the alley next to the Montpelier Beverage Center.

Friday work will continue at the intersection of School Street and Main Street. It is expected that this work will be completed by the close of business on Friday, August 19th.
